Clinical Excellence and Cultural Discovery at Chula

I had a wonderful time at King Chulalongkorn Memorial Hospital. I was there for two months (January–February 2026) as part of my clinical rotation. I had the opportunity to rotate through the CVT and pediatric surgery departments. But perhaps I’ll start by describing the planning process leading up to and during my stay:

The program was coordinated by the International Office (primarily Ms. Nutchanat). She handles all matters related to the hospital placement and is always available. I really appreciated the orientation meeting during the first week, where we discussed everything and got to know the important procedures.

The International Office also organizes meetings and events to help international students get to know one another.

I lived in a dormitory on the hospital grounds, which was very comfortable, clean, and well-maintained.

In the CVT department, I mainly observed the surgeries. For English-speaking students, the cases are usually summarized briefly. In the CVT department, I mainly observed the surgeries. The pediatric surgery rotation was great. You’re given a “schedule” and get to be involved in everything, from rounds to the outpatient clinic to surgeries. I learned a lot there and really appreciated the team.

Finally, a few words about life in Bangkok: King Chulalongkorn Hospital is very centrally located, right next to Lumphini Park, a huge green space. There are so many shopping malls in the area that it’s almost overwhelming. Since you live right on campus, it’s easy to meet Thai students.

There’s so much to experience in Bangkok: rooftop bars, markets, temples, and much more. I felt so welcome and really appreciate the warm, helpful, and friendly nature of the Thai people.

Thank you so much for the wonderful time at Chulalongkorn University. I highly recommend doing a clinical rotation there!
